Job summary

The Royal Armouries seeks a Registrar to lead the Registrar and Documentation team within the Collections, Learning and Research group. Reporting to the Head of Collection Services, you will balance risk to the collection with public access and oversee registration tasks.

You will manage a small team, work flexibly in a hybrid role, and engage with stakeholders across the organisation while maintaining high standards of documentation and collection care.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registrar to join the existing Collections, Learning and Research team. Reporting to the Head of Collection Services the successful applicant will lead the Registrar and Documentation team, manage collection management procedures, balancing risk to the collection with public access.

The successful candidate must have experience in a variety of museum registration tasks, have experience of managing a team, be able to work flexibly, be highly organised and self-motivated with a proven ability to work to tight deadlines.They must be an effective and professional communicator, able to engage with stakeholders and build relationships at all levels across the organisation.

Hours

36 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. The role is hybrid task orientated work, with some remote working, some office based activities and travel to other sites required.

The role will predominantly office based OR be hybrid with some presents required in the office.The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour and one of the most important collections of its type in the world, housed at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire.
