We are looking for a motivated RVN to join our team at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists as a Surgery Nurse, where your passion for surgical nursing will be both recognised and nurtured.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to diversify your skillset by working with complex referral cases within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. You'll play a vital part in ensuring the highest standards of patient care throughout their treatment journey, in a hospital equipped with fantastic facilities and supported by expert specialists.
Whilst the majority of the caseload focuses on soft tissue, orthopaedics, and neurology cases, you’ll also gain exposure to other disciplines, including cardiology and ophthalmology. This is a fantastic opportunity for a surgical nurse eager to grow and thrive in a dynamic, supportive environment.

SCVS are a specialist-led small animal hospital equipped with the expertise and knowledge to support the most complex of cases. As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we offer impressive facilities and state-of-the-art equipment which enable us to provide outstanding treatment to our patients from the initial consultation right through to discharging them from our care. We are conveniently based in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31.
Our recent expansion has provided us with a new purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility housing a large client reception and waiting area, 10 new consulting rooms, along with a new rehabilitation centre. The improvements do not stop here, with further additions to include a new diagnostic suite and ICU area, plus much more.
We have an outstanding team of recognised specialists across a multitude of disciplines. We also have a dedicated rehabilitation team who provide physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to aide post-operative recovery. The care and comfort of our patients is always at the front of our minds. Our advanced nursing team provide excellent care to all patients during their stay at SCVS. We also have a team of dedicated veterinary care assistants to ensure patients feel reassured and comforted during their stay.
You will be joining a friendly team with our 2 existing Surgical Nurses, with the support of 3 Surgical VCAs and guided by our Head Surgery Nurse.
This is a full-time, 40hr/week position on a 5 week rolling rota. The shift times are primarily 9am-6pm Monday-Friday, and 1:5 weekends with TOIL. The weeks either side of your scheduled weekend, you will work a 4-day week 8am-5pm to accommodate your lieu days. Please note there is no scheduled on-call or OOHs work with this role, however occasional overtime may be required in the event of an emergency or if one of your cases runs over the expected time.
