Job Description
A compassionate and skilled Registered Veterinary Nurse is sought to join a dynamic team at a busy, supportive 24-hour hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated nurse to thrive in a professional, multi-disciplinary practice where their expertise will be valued and developed.
About The Practice
The hospital is an RCVS-accredited 24-hour facility located in Brighton, designed with state-of-the-art equipment and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. The practice boasts dedicated wards for cats, dogs, exotic pets, isolation, and day procedures, ensuring patients receive optimal care in a comfortable and well-equipped environment. With a broad range of services, the hospital supports various specialties, including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, advanced imaging, and exotic animal medicine, with a team of certificate holders in these fields.
Serving as a referral hub, the hospital handles emergency cases and advanced medical conditions referred from its five branch practices and local partners. A fully staffed out-of-hours team provides continuous care, ensuring a seamless transition between day and night shifts.
The practice places a strong emphasis on professional development and encourages team members to expand their skills through internal and external CPD opportunities. It offers a supportive, collaborative environment where every team member can grow in their career.
About The Role
The role is a full-time position with a four-day working week. The caseload is varied and challenging, with both emergency cases and complex medical and surgical conditions. The nurse will participate in a weekend rota of one in eight, with a day off the following Monday to support work-life balance. The hospital’s night team ensures that out-of-hours care is covered, allowing for smooth patient handovers and continuity.
This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a busy environment, remains calm under pressure, and brings a positive, professional attitude to their work. The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for providing high-quality patient care. Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced setting are essential. The ideal candidate will also have a commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for advancing veterinary nursing knowledge and skills.
