Job description

Highland Vet Referrals is expanding, and we're looking for a dedicated and skilled Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our dynamic team in Inverness as part of our exciting new referral service.

What You'll Do:

1. Assist in surgeries, including scrubbing in for orthopaedic and medical cases
2. Provide nurse consultations (post-op checks, laser therapy, admissions, and discharges)
3. Manage anesthesia, including ventilator use
4. Support diagnostic imaging with advanced equipment including Examion Digital X-ray and Siemens CT
5. Handle stock ordering and maintain a clinically clean environment
6. Assist visiting specialists such as dermatologists and pain management experts

While orthopaedic or medical experience is a plus, we warmly welcome nurses eager to take their first steps into referral practice, offering strong support and development opportunities.

Highland Vet Referrals boasts state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities, including onsite CT, ultrasound, DR X-ray, a full IDEXX lab suite with EPOC, and in-house coagulation testing—enabling comprehensive, accessible care for our patients.

Working pattern

This full-time position involves a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, with no weekend or out-of-hours duties—overnight care is provided by Highland Vet Emergencies. We offer a flexible rolling rota to accommodate preferred working hours, with shift patterns evolving as our out-of-hours service develops. Flexibility and teamwork are essential, as our close-knit team shares responsibility for patient care, decision-making, and practice upkeep.
