About the PracticeWe’re a modern, purpose-built small animal surgery equipped with everything we need to deliver high standards of clinical care, including equipment such as a new VetSEAL Vessel Sealing Unit, diathermy machine, a new high grade ultrasound machine, orthopaedic equipment for a variety of procedures, ECG, multiparameter monitoring unit for anaesthesia, oscillometric/Doppler blood pressure monitoring units, and soon-to-come Idexx SediVue Dx Urine Sediment Analyser for much improved and convenient assessment of urinalysis in-house.
You’ll be joining an experienced team of 5 Vets (including 3 Practice Partners), 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses (including nursing manager), 3 Student Nurses, 1 Senior Veterinary Care Assistant, 1 Veterinary Care Assistant, 3 Receptionists (including Head Receptionist) and a Practice Manager. It’s a well-balanced team where everyone plays a valuable role and contributes to a positive working environment.
You’ll have the chance to use your full nursing skill set from anaesthetic monitoring to inpatient care and recovery, nurse consultations, triage assessment and assisting with discharges. You’ll also have the support of Veterinary Care Assistants with patient preparation and turnaround in theatre, so your time is spent where it’s most valuable. We’re passionate about nurses optimising their skills under Schedule 3 and welcome opportunities to do so.
We see a broad and varied caseload, including advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, so no two days are quite the same. What We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse with a strong foundation in general nursing and a commitment to patient care. The ideal candidate will be confident, conscientious, and keen to work as part of a collaborative and motivated team. A genuine interest in animal welfare is essential, as is a calm, approachable demeanour and a willingness to get involved across the full range of nursing duties. You’ll also need to bring excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay focused and organised, especially when the day gets busy.
The RoleThis is a
full-time position, working 4
0 hours per week, with participation in the weekend rota (currently 1 in 5). There are
no out-of-hours shifts and
no overnight inpatient checks, so you can enjoy a healthy work-life balance.
