Job description
Overview

Are you an experienced RVN looking for a chance to really make your mark? Do you dream of contributing your ideas and being involved in the development of a brand-new, independent specialist referral centre? Then this exciting opportunity at Optivet Referrals is perfect for you!

We're excited to announce that due to consistent growth and our unwavering commitment to quality service, we're opening a new Independent Specialist Referral Centre in the Morden area of South West London, specifically focusing on providing an Ophthalmology Referral Service. This is where you come in! We are looking to welcome a friendly and enthusiastic RVN to join our inclusive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step into referral nursing, where you can further your skills, knowledge and experience while helping to build a new specialist centre from the ground up.

A Bit About Us

Optivet Referrals was founded in 2006 with a clear vision: to elevate the care and treatment of ophthalmology patients by creating premises dedicated solely to referral work. What started as a dedicated ophthalmology clinic has blossomed into something truly special. Today, we're not only one of Europe's leaders in small animal and equine specialist-led veterinary ophthalmology referrals, but we've also expanded our expertise. We now offer small animal specialist-led surgery (both orthopaedic and soft tissue), internal medicine, cardiology, and pain management referrals, all expertly supported by our specialist-led anaesthesia team.

We’ve expanded even further, with the opening of our branch practice in Devon, Optivet South West, and the introduction of our specialist services in Scotland, with Optivet at the University of Glasgow. It's been an incredible journey of growth, all driven by our unwavering commitment to providing the best possible care across the UK.

We remain proudly independent, and that's something we cherish. It allows us to stay aligned around a set of strong core values that guide everything we do, and we truly mean it when we say we treat every patient as if they are our own.

Communication – We provide clear, honest communication to all our clients and colleagues to ensure we manage expectations effectively.

Accountability – We act with integrity, treating everyone with respect, dedication and professionalism.

Resourceful – We embrace continuous improvement, ensuring the best treatment options are given, meeting the needs of both the patient and client.

Excellence – We lead by example, to deliver the optimal veterinary solution, focusing on all aspects of our patients’ wellbeing – treating them as if they were our own.

Support – We are compassionate - we provide a culture where people and patients feel valued and able to thrive.

It's these core values that underpin our culture here at Optivet. We're committed to fostering an environment where our team feels supported and can genuinely thrive, offering opportunities for both professional and personal growth. You'll find our team is incredibly friendly and inclusive, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Be a Crucial Team Member from Day One

This isn't just about joining a new practice; it's about being an integral part of its foundation and growth. We really do value input from our team members, so you'll be encouraged to share your ideas and play a direct role in shaping the development of our new Morden centre. Whether you have previous referral experience or are taking your first steps into referral nursing, you’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative environment where developing your skills, knowledge, and experience is an everyday focus, with limitless possibilities for your future.

What You'll Be Doing

This is a full-time day position, working 5 days a week (Monday to Friday). Your primary responsibilities will revolve around providing optimal care for our medical, surgical, and high-dependency patients. Your keen attention to detail, coupled with your empathetic approach to patient care, will contribute to our already established culture of excellence within our RVN team.

This is more than just a job; it's a commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of our beloved patients.

What We Offer You

We believe in rewarding our incredible team. When you join Optivet, you'll benefit from:

  • Salary starting from £35,000, depending on experience
  • 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays (we also allow an extra 5 days for length of service)
  • Extra day off for your birthday
  • Generous CPD allowance, with certificates supported
  • Bupa private medical insurance
  • Monthly pet insurance contribution
  • SMART pension
  • Electric car scheme
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • Employee discount
Outside of Work

As our London team grows, so too will the opportunities for fun outside of work. Our fantastic Havant team loves a good challenge and a good laugh, taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge together and proving that their teamwork extends far beyond the clinic. More recently, things got deliciously competitive with a Paella Cook-Off, where bragging rights for the best paella were seriously put to the test. We can't wait to see what exciting social adventures the new team will come up with.

The Morden area provides a good balance of green spaces, such as Morden Hall Park, and excellent connectivity to central London, with Morden Underground Station offering direct access to the city via the Northern Line, making travel easy whether for commutes, city visits, or exploring on your days off.

If you're an experienced RVN ready for a truly impactful role where your ideas are valued and you can help build a new specialist centre from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you!
