Job summary

Oakmount Vets in Burnley is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team on a full-time basis. You’ll deliver high-quality nursing care across a range of first opinion cases while supporting excellent client experiences in a well-equipped practice.

You’ll work with 8 vets and 10 nurses in a collaborative environment that values professional development, patient welfare and high clinical standards, with ongoing learning opportunities and a supportive Nurse Academy.

Qualifications

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS.
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care across a range of medical and surgical cases.
  • You’ll get to run your own nurse clinics, with special interests warmly welcomed and encouraged.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Oakmount Vets on a full-timebasis.

Oakmount is a friendly, first opinion small animal practice that has been caring for the pets of Burnley and surrounding areas for over 25 years. Equipped with modern equipment we have 5 consulting rooms, 2 theatres (orthopaedics and soft tissue), digital x-ray with both vertical and horizontal beam, dental x-ray, ultrasound, in-house blood machines, as well as all the usual equipment. We are ISFM feline friendly practice with aspirations to achieve the Gold status.

You’ll be part of a welcoming and collaborative team that values professional development, patient welfare, and high clinical standards. We are a Veterinary Nurse training practice, and you will work collaboratively with our team of 8 vets, 10 nurses and support staff.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Working shifts Monday to Friday
  • 1 in 6 weekend rota with days off in lieu either side
  • OOH shifts with inpatient care overnight, which is nurse-led on a sleep rota basis
