Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS)

Job description

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Clare Vet Group on a full‑time basis.

At Clare Vet Group we aim to provide the best level of patient care, client care and standards of practice possible. This role will be predominantly based in our Cavehill branch, 3 days per week, with 1 day each week based in our Ballyclare Hospital.

Our Cavehill Clinic is a standalone branch operating clinic which relocated in June 2025 to facilitate expansion of our services. Since relocation we have offered the following: expanded availability of Vet Consultations, introduction of Nurse Consultations and introduction of Routine Surgical Procedures.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern
  • Average 36 hours per week across Cavehill (3 days) and Ballyclare Hospital (1 day)
  • Opportunity to have every Wednesday off
  • 1 Friday on‑call every 8 weeks, with a half‑day Saturday and Sunday on the same weekend (1 in 8 weekends)
  • On‑call supplements paid
General Responsibilities

At Cavehill, you’ll carry out nurse consultations, support surgical procedures and patient recovery, assist the wider team, and contribute to equipment maintenance, ordering, administration and clinic marketing.

Your hours at Ballyclare will offer the opportunity to work within a larger team and develop your nursing skills across a varied caseload, including surgical and medical nursing, anaesthesia, radiography, inpatient care, animal husbandry and laboratory work.

You Might Be a Great Fit If…
  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
