We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Amery Vets on a full-time basis. This role is primarily based at our Alton site but will include travel to our other branches, so the ability to drive and access to a vehicle is required. We have both a permanent and a fixed-term position available.

Amery Veterinary Group is a well-established, RCVS-accredited small animal practice with three sites across Alton, Bordon, and Grayshott.

Our Alton and Bordon sites are fully equipped for surgical and diagnostic work, while Grayshott provides a calm and welcoming consultation space. We’re proud of our loyal client base and the strong relationships we’ve built within our community.

Set near the stunning South Downs National Park, with easy access to the coast, this is a fantastic place to live and work.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high‑quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern
  • 40 hours per week (happy to discuss less hours for the right applicant)
  • Working Monday - Friday between 8:15 - 7:30 pm, ideally across 5 days but we can consider 4 longer shifts for the right person
  • 1:3 Saturdays 8:15 am - 1:30 pm
General Responsibilities
  • Nurse consultations and client education
  • Inpatient care and monitoring
  • Surgical nursing and anaesthesia
  • Supporting the vet team with procedures and diagnostics
  • Maintaining high clinical standards and patient care
  • Emergency triage
  • Supporting the reception team as needed
  • Travel between our sites when required
You Might Be a Great Fit If...

We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement

Here is a testimonial from our nurse Rachel:

"I have been working as a veterinary nurse at Amery Vets for nearly nine years, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Having started here as a student, I’ve had the privilege of growing and developing into a qualified nurse within a team that has supported me every step of the way.

From the very beginning, I felt welcomed into a small, close‑knit and friendly team that truly looks out for one another. Over the years, my confidence and clinical skills have grown significantly, and I’ve always felt encouraged to keep learning and further developing my skill set.

I particularly enjoy in‑patient care and nurse consultations, as they allow me to build strong relationships with both patients and their owners while playing an active role in their treatment and recovery. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see patients progress and know you’ve been part of their journey.

What makes this practice stand out is the genuine sense of teamwork and compassion. No matter how busy things get, there is always support available, and everyone works together to provide the highest standard of care. The practice actively supports professional development and creates opportunities to continue learning, which has been so important in my growth as a nurse.

After nearly a decade here, I can honestly say it feels less like a workplace and more like a second home. I’m proud to be part of such a dedicated, supportive, and caring team."
