Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 3 days in-office, 2 days flexible)
Salary: PAYE: £29.24 per hour | Umbrella: £38.43 per hour

Are you a dedicated Registered Social Worker with a passion for supporting children and families? NRW People is excited to offer a rewarding temporary role based at County Hall in Usk. Starting 27 October 2025, this 13-week position provides short-term sickness cover within the Early Help and Assessment Team, offering a chance to make a real impact in a friendly and supportive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse caseload of complex cases, conducting assessments, reviews, preparing reports, and attending court to safeguard children.
  • Deliver creative support and advice for children, young people, families, and carers, guided by the 1989 Children’s Act principles.
  • Analyse strengths and risks, formulate plans to enhance resilience, and implement interventions to protect and empower families.
  • Respond to crises during office duty and collaborate with foster carers, partner agencies, and students (where applicable).
  • Shape future services while developing your skills through training and supervision, working 3 days in-office and 2 days flexibly.
What We’re Looking For
  • A qualified Social Worker, registered with the Care Council for Wales, with essential assessment (intake) experience in children’s services.
  • Strong communication and case management skills, with confidence in court presentations and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Ability to work full-time (37 hours) across a hybrid schedule, with residence within 1 hour of NP15 1GA (please include location).
  • A compassionate team player ready to thrive in a supportive setting.
