Job summary

Scarborough Health Network is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join our Centenary Site on a permanent part-time basis. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care within a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care to diverse patient caseloads.

The successful candidate will hold current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, be proficient in documentation and communication, and demonstrate sound judgment in a fast-paced environment while upholding

Qualifications

  • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • CPR at Basic Life Support level.
  • Adult medical/surgical experience.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Job Description:
Position Overview:

Reporting to Manager of Continuing Care, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary environment. You will be providing care to a diverse patient caseload of post surgical, cardiac, stroke, musculoskeletal, progressive disorders, complex chronic illness, and dementia patients.

Requirements:
  • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level
  • Health Assessment course or equivalent experience
  • Rehabilitation courses from a recognized institution
  • Gerontology courses or equivalent experience
  • Current adult medical / surgical experience
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast paced demanding environment
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
