University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is recruiting Band 5 nurses, Anaesthetic Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners for our Cardiac Theatre Team at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. This post offers learning and progression through an Education Team and on-the-ground clinical supervisors.

Experience in Theatres, Anaesthetics or acute surgical wards is welcomed but not essential, and applicants returning to practice or student ODPs are encouraged to apply.

Job summary

Glenfield Hospital Theatres are recruiting Band 5 nurses, Anaesthetic Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners within our Cardiac Theatre Team!
There is excellent scope for learning and advancement within our theatres and we have our own dedicated Education Team and on the ground clinical skills supervisors, to help you develop and progress in your career.
Experience in Theatres, Anaesthetics or an acute surgical ward is an advantage but not essential and we welcome applications from student ODP's and those returning to practice.

Main duties of the job

• To co-ordinate and provide skilled clinical practise (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with with responsibilities under NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct.
• To contribute to the continued development of Nurses/Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), including the supervision of junior nurses/ODPs and support staff.
• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based clinical care to a group of patients.
• Assist and contribute to the management and organisation of a theatre or unit
• Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing/ODP care.
• Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
• Act as a clinical and professional role model, mentoring, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
