Job description

Due to a promotion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurses to join the friendly and professional team on Templer Ward, Newton Abbot Hospital.

You must be committed to providing high-quality care and have a desire to work with patients during their recovery journey following an acute illness. The ward has 20 beds dedicated to specialist stroke/neuro rehabilitation.

You will possess effective communication skills to work within the multidisciplinary team. The post offers opportunities for personal and professional development, supported by in-house training and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide direct nursing care to a caseload of patients during your shift, ensuring high standards of care are maintained, and supervise junior staff and students on the ward.
  2. Work as a registered nurse within a team responsible to the team leader/shift coordinator, caring for patients and their carers.
  3. Utilise learning opportunities to understand the physiological, psycho-social, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and their carers, developing clinical proficiency to deliver nursing care.
  4. Promote a safe clinical environment for patients, carers, visitors, and staff.
  5. Comply with the Trust’s values and expected behaviours.

Templer Ward is a 30-bed ward within Newton Abbot Community Hospital. We offer the chance to work within a multidisciplinary team to provide ongoing care to patients following an acute illness. 20 beds are dedicated to specialist stroke/neuro rehabilitation.

You will be supported to develop within your role through a continuing professional development competency profile, access to in-house and external training, as well as clinical supervision.
