Job description
The Role

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision. The post holder may be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses.

Duties may vary with the type of ward / department and the degree of patient dependency

Additional required after 2 years Post registration

The post holder will direct, coordinate and supervise, where appropriate, the work of other staff within the ward or department to promote best practice in relation to patient care

In the absence of the senior charge nurse/team leader, or deputy, the post holder will provide cover to ensure effective operation of the ward /department

  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
It would be great if you also have
  • Educated to degree level or training undertaken post registration courses.
  • Evidence of CPD e.g. Flying Start, meeting PREP standards
  • Cleanliness Champion
  • Previous Registered Nursing position
  • Evidence of post registration skills e.g. IV Drug therapy, cannulation and phlebotomy
  • Evidence of positive role modelling
  • Ability to use NHS Patient Management Systems
Contract type

Permanent, Part Time, Variety hours. Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Surgical Directorate within University Hospital Wishaw. The working pattern for this role Days/nights/weekends
