Overview

Full time, 36 hours. Day Shifts.

A night enhancement of £1.50 per hour will apply from 8pm to 7am Monday – Sunday (this does not apply to sleep-ins). A weekend day enhancement of £2.00 per hour will be paid from 7am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Newlands House is home for 35 people with physical disabilities. The home has a got a "Good" CQC rating.

We are based on Main Street, Netherseal, Swadlincote DE12 8DA. Please check the location before applying.

Due to lack of public transport to Newlands House, you will need access to transport or you will live in the Netherseal area.

Responsibilities
  • As a Registered Nurse with Leonard Cheshire, you will be responsible and accountable for providing the highest standards of nursing, clinical and personal support to our customers as outlined in Person Centred Plans. You will order and administer medication, ensure safe storage and record all information in accordance with internal procedures and NMC guidelines.
  • Effectively leading a team of support staff, you will ensure the smooth and efficient management of the shift. You will prioritise and plan, delegating relevant activities for the support team, ensuring the needs of our customers are met within a safe and caring environment.
  • You will support ongoing assessments, observing any changes in health and well-being. You will ensure that records are maintained in a timely way and support customers with physical care, personal hygiene needs and daily tasks.

Qualifications
  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • A thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at the level of a qualified nurse (level 5).
  • An understanding of the NMC code of conduct and relevant practice standards and guidance.
  • Effective nursing practice in all basic registered nurse procedures.
  • Flexibility to work rostered hours and on-call rota as required.

*We are currently under consultation proposing a change to the enhancement rates paid. If the proposal is accepted, from 1 December 2025 new enhancement rates of £1.00 per hour will only apply to night working (8pm Monday to 7am Friday) and weekend working (8pm Friday – 7am Monday). This does not apply to Sleep-ins.
