Registered Nurse, Operating Room, St. Elizabeth's Medical Center

Schedule: 36 Hours per week, Days, Call Required

The Operating rooms cater to our busy inpatient and emergent surgical needs across dozens of surgical specialties. Recent OR expansions mean the most updated and advanced surgical equipment including a dedicated hybrid room, Da Vinci Robotics room, and renovated team spaces. The OR offers a fast-paced, high-skill, collaborative work environment where you will work in all surgical service specialties with highly trained teammates.

POSITION SUMMARY:
As an RN, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model, you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver nursing care in the Perioperative Services unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families.
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
  • Update and manage patient records.
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS).
  • CNRO certification (preferred).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification (Preferred).

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years' operating room experience required.
  • 3 years preferred.
  • Must be experienced in a circulating role.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in another language a plus.
