We are looking for an experienced Registered Adult / Mental Health Nurse to join our team. Our Nursing Home is one with residents that have nursing and mental health needs, and although at times the role can be challenging it is a rewarding place to work.

Job Responsibilities

Your Main Duties Will Be: As a Registered Nurse your role will be one of responsibility and accountability. You will be the nurse in charge when on shift, ensuring through good communication and leadership your team provides our residents with optimum care. Other duties include carrying out medication rounds using our electronic systems, managing stock, carrying out CD checks and escalating any medication changes or concerns to the pharmacy teams / home management team. You will also be involved in wound care and management, venepuncture, stoma care, end of life care, IV medications, and more.

Daily documentation of actions and communications on our e-plan, managing and updating care plans for residents who you will be assigned as named nurse. Be aware of each service user’s needs and know when to communicate with outside agencies and multi-disciplinary teams to provide the best outcomes for our residents. Recognise and manage any decline in health physical or mental health. Mandatory training to remain in-date; attend training sessions required for your role and continue to develop your skills.

Qualifications

• You must be a Registered General or Mental Health Nurse with a valid NMC PIN, with no restrictions to work.

Experience

• You must be a registered general / mental health nurse with experience working within a team and be able to communicate effectively with staff, residents, and other professionals. Ability to assess care needs and produce care plans accordingly. Medicine Management. To use your clinical skills in areas such as: manage wounds, catheter care venipuncture, suctioning, deteriorating health, end of life care.

Desirable

• Experience working with, or a knowledge of the needs of those with dementia and mental health diagnoses would be desirable but is not essential.
• Basic IT Skills as needing electronic reporting and care plans, medication rounds.
• Adaptive leadership as when nurse in charge you will need to take control of your shift and lead your team.

Skills

• The ability to assess care needs and produce care plans for residents that reflect their needs and wishes is essential. Many of our residents have advanced dementia and mental health diagnoses, which can make it difficult for them to express their wishes at times. We are looking for nurses who can help our residents maintain a good and satisfying quality of life and be cared for in the way they would like and which also meets their needs.
