About the Job:

  • Provide high quality nursing care to patients attending the department with a focus on pediatrics.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in evidence-based care and ensure continuity of the quality of care.
  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients and their relatives/carers.
  • Act in accordance with legal and statutory guidance and comply with the Health Board's policies.
  • Utilise the skills of venepuncture, cannulation, IV medication administration, triage, and apply emergency plaster casts when competent.
  • Respond safely to an emergency and escalate any concerns.
  • Support the department in ensuring the environment meets the required standard of cleanliness and all equipment is maintained in good working order.
  • Be responsible for the support of junior colleagues.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Act as an advocate when representing the patients.
  • Work as part of a large team, using delegation skills and prioritising care.
  • Participate in health promotion and support the nurse in charge with care and decision making.
  • Ensure all statutory and mandatory training is up to date.
  • Be responsible for administering medications to patients.
  • Ensure PPE is worn correctly in line with infection control guidelines.
