Registered Nurse - HMP Kirklevington + £1500 welcome payment

We're recruiting now for part time (28.5 hours per week) Band 5 RGN primary care nurses to work within our prison services across HMP Kirklevington.

Every day is different for a prison nurse, as you'll work within varied roles including:

  • Primary care nursing
  • Minor injuries and illnesses
  • Emergency and urgent care
  • Health assessment and wellbeing checks
  • Long term conditions
Main duties of the job

We are a multi-disciplinary team collaborating with other services like GP, Optometry, Dentist, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Sexual health, Substance Misuse and Mental health. To help us deliver our extensive range of services, you'll be a qualified registered nurse (RGN) with a passion to deliver high-quality clinical care and a commitment to the rehabilitation of offenders. You'll be self-motivated, have a sound knowledge base and excellent communications skills.

Experience of working within the prison environment is not necessary as full induction and training will be provided.

Education and Training
  • Registered Nurse Level 1 - Adult /General/Mental Health
  • Mentorship / supervision/teaching / assessing experience/ training
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current healthcare issues.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance audit, risk management and quality agenda
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team
  • Competent in clinical practice e.g., phlebotomy, ECG monitoring
  • Worked in a complex environment managing deteriorating patients
  • Experience of working within a Health & Justice environment.
