Registered Nurse - Head and Neck Outpatients

The successful candidate will be keen and willing to learn and develop their career in an outpatients setting. In return the successful candidate would be supported in their career development in each area of the specialities.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake training to become confident in providing Aural Care in Nurse Led clinics.

The role will involve the cleaning of Nasendoscopes used in clinic, the chaperoning of clinicians in a variety of Head and Neck clinics including assisting in Ultrasound clinics. The role will also require the mentoring of students and to work according to the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and relevant professional guidelines and to be accountable for their own professional actions.

The successful candidate will also be required to develop and maintain clinical competencies, skill and knowledge which relate to the area of clinical practice.

We offer the opportunity to participate in all the clinic specialities and encourage staff to learn new skills. The clinics themselves offer many different interventions and procedures within the department.

Main duties of the job
  • You will have excellent communication skills and a flexible attitude which will assist you in managing numerous issues pertaining to patients, their safe and efficient journey through the department as well as liaising with Multi-disciplinary Teams.
  • You must be committed to delivering high quality of care and be able to work as part of a team. The ability to prioritise your workload and liaise confidently with staff from all disciplines is essential.
  • You will be expected to work in all areas of the department including but not limited to providing Aural care, and working alongside the Radiologist in Ultrasound Clinic, Minor Oral Surgery and Plastics dressings. Training will be provided.
  • You should have evidence of relevant ongoing professional development.
