Overview
CDR Health Care Inc. is seeking Registered Nurses based in the Bristol area to provide healthcare services at a detention facility. This role will be responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations, collaborating with healthcare leadership, and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality patient care. Key duties include conducting physical assessments, performing diagnostic screenings, administering treatments, maintaining accurate medical documentation, and responding to on-site medical emergencies. The position also involves supervising support staff, upholding infection control protocols, and resolving operational challenges to support a safe, efficient, and patient-centered care environment.
Essential Functions
- Oversee daily site operations to ensure adequate staffing, supplies, and equipment are consistently available.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the site, CDR Health, and the medical leadership team.
- Identify and resolve operational issues such as parking logistics, surge capacity, and staffing shortages.
- Maintain quality assurance by training staff and monitoring the effectiveness of site testing procedures.
- Provide break relief for clinical staff and assist with specimen collection as needed (PRN).
- Supervise CNAs and LPNs to ensure high standards of care and smooth workflow in the medical unit.
- Educate patients on their medical conditions, medications, and treatment plans in a clear, compassionate manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Conduct initial medical intake screenings for new detainees, including health histories, vital signs, and TB risk assessments.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for patients admitted to the medical ward.
- Administer medications per provider orders and MAR, including injections, wound care, and chronic disease management.
- Triage complaints during sick calls and determine appropriate clinical action or provider referral.
- Monitor and manage high-risk patients, including those under detox protocols, suicide watch, or other observation categories.
- Respond to in-clinic emergencies, delivering ACLS/BLS care and coordinating further treatment when necessary.
- Enforce infection control standards, including sanitation practices, PPE compliance, and isolation protocols.
- Document patient refusals of care, medication, or observation and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Participate in suicide watch procedures, including direct monitoring, timely documentation, and mental health referrals.
- Other duties that may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.
- Current, active RN licensure in good standing in the state of FL or a compact license.
- Current BLS certification at the medical provider level, with the ability to deliver appropriate patient care in urgent or emergent situations while awaiting EMS.
- Recent clinical experience within the last 6 months, including proficiency in specimen collection.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods without restriction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations and in varied settings.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical decisions under pressure.
- Capable of multitasking and thriving in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
- Able to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
- Flexible availability, including late afternoons, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed to respond to emergencies or critical incidents.
- Willingness to relocate if needed.
Schedule
- Shifts Available: Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) or Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Facility Hours: Open 7 days a week (Monday through Sunday)
