We want an enthusiastic practitioner who is eager to develop their assessment and communication skills, and increase their knowledge and clinical skills in neonatal care. In return you will be supported by our skilled senior nursing and medical team. Further training will be provide via BCU/Keele university inFoundations in Neonatal care.

You will be passionate about improving neonatal care and improving the experience of babies and their families in the neonatal unit.

Main duties of the job

This post requires flexibility as the unit operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The service provides Transitional Care, Special care, High Dependency and Intensive care to Neonates.

The role of the Nursing Associate is to work predominantly with the team of Registered Nurses, Medics and AHPs, contributing to the ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of babies and their families in line with the service and as agreed. They will monitor the condition and health needs of children within their care on a continual basis in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team.

The nurse associate will ensure effective communication is always maintained whilst providing support for junior staff. The Nursing Associate has a breadth of knowledge and will provide holistic, family centered and person-centered care to the infant and their families. They will help to bridge the gap between Health Care Assistants and Registered Nurses by working independently under the leadership of Registered Nurses, working within the sphere of nursing and care and within all aspects of the nursing process.

Nursing Associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment; and will act in accordance with the NMC Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates.
