Job summary

Dorothy House Hospice Care in Winsley is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our In-Patient Unit, delivering high-quality palliative and end-of-life care to patients and families.

You will assess needs, coordinate care from admission to discharge, and work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure symptom management and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering evidence-based nursing care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, with willingness to support patients and families.
  • Experience with medicines management and MDT work.
  • Experience contributing to quality improvement or audits; familiar with SystmOne.
  • Knowledge of palliative and end of life care services.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs and develop care plans.
  • Deliver and evaluate nursing care using evidence-based practice.
  • Coordinate patient care from admission to discharge within the MDT.
  • Support patients and families through end-of-life planning.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure care aligns with policies.

Whether you already have hospice experience or are looking to bring your skills from another healthcare setting, we take pride in supporting our teams professional development and helping you build a rewarding career where every day has purpose., As a Registered Nurse, you will work as part of our specialist In-Patient Unit team to provide outstanding palliative and end of life care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing patients' physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs, developing individualised plans of care alongside patients and their families
  • Delivering and evaluating high-quality nursing care using evidence-based practice
  • Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care from admission through to discharge
  • Supporting patients and families through complex symptom management and end of life care planning
  • Providing professional advice and support through hospice services when required
  • Taking charge of the clinical environment when appropriate and supporting colleagues across the nursing team
  • Contributing to clinical audit, quality improvement, education and service development activities
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring care is delivered in line with professional standards and hospice policies

Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience delivering evidence-based nursing care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when supporting patients with complex care needs
  • Demonstrating attributes that reflect care, compassion and willingness to support patients and their families through their end of life journey
  • Experience of medicines management and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience contributing to quality improvement, audit or service improvement activities, Experience using clinical systems and Microsoft Office applications, including SystmOne
  • Knowledge of, or experience within, palliative care and end of life care services
