Job summary

NHS Nightingale Exeter, part of the South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre (SWAOC), seeks a Band 5 Registered Nurse to support patients from pre-operative assessment through admission, theatre preparation and post-operative care at Nightingale Exeter.

The role covers orthopaedic and other surgical pathways with flexible working. 37.5 hours per week; shifts include early, late, long days and nights. NMC registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Support patients through pre-operative assessment, admission, preparation for theatre and post-operative care.
• Assist across all areas of short-stay surgery as part of the multidisciplinary team.
• Carry out assigned duties following supervised training, within the post holder’s capabilities and to a high standard of care.
• Assist with non-sedated spinal and hip injection lists through diagnostics.
• Contribute to combined nurse-and-therapy care pathways.
• Support surgical pathways including hip and knee replacement, foot and ankle, soft-tissue knee and spinal surgery.

Job description

The Band 5 Registered Nurse joins the South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre (SWAOC) at Nightingale Exeter. The post supports patients through pre-operative assessment, admission, theatre preparation and post-operative care, including short-stay surgery and diagnostic injection lists. This permanent role covers orthopaedic and other surgical pathways, with flexible working considered; shifts are early (07:30–15:30), late (12:00–20:00), long days (07:30–20:00) or nights (19:30–08:00), currently Monday to Saturday with possible expansion to seven days. NMC registration is required for 37.5 hours a week; preference is given to NHS Priority and 'At Risk' staff in Devon.
