We are seeking 3 x dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurses to join our healthcare team to carry out our services across Leicestershire, Nottingham, Rutland, Northamptonshire. The successful candidates will provide high-quality patient care within a hybrid setting, supporting the delivery of essential medical services. Main duties of the job
  • Towork on the Roving HealthUnits, delivering vaccinations to the local populations
  • Cytology
  • To completedaily site reports via our sharepoint site.
  • Working within GP practicesto support their vaccination campaignsin areas of deprivation and health inequalities.
  • Engage with the GeneralPublic to raiseawareness around vaccinations and health.
  • Follow agreed policies and protocols, referto the senior nurse or Head of Nursingas appropriate.
  • Maintain and clean equipment after use.
  • Maintain environment, including stock rotation and stock control.
  • Maintain general tidinessand cleanliness ofenvironment.
  • Stock taking of vaccines and reporting to lead nurse for ordering.
  • Use of clinicaladministration systems such as System1
  • Accurate documentation of patient care and recordedin a timely fashion.
  • Aduty to inform the lead nurse or the Head of Nursingof potential problemsor issues arising within the day-to-day duties
  • Attend meetings whenrequired.
  • Awareness of national standardsof infection controland cleanliness and regulatory / contractual /professional requirements, and good practice guidelines.
  • Responsible for the correctand safe management of the specimens process, including collection, labelling, handling, use ofcorrect and clean containers, storage, and transport arrangements.

  • Management and maintenance ofPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the practice including provision, ordering,availability, and ongoingcorrect usage by staff.

  • Ownership of infection controland clinically based patient care protocols, and implementation of those protocols.
  • Monitoring practice facilities andequipment in relation to infection control, ensuring that provision of handcleansing facilities, wipes etc are sufficient to ensure a good clinicalworking environment. Lack of facilities to be escalated as appropriate.
  • Safe management of sharpsprocedures including training, use, storage, and disposal.
  • Using appropriate infection controlprocedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy, clean, and sterile, and safe way,free from hazards. Initiation of remedial / corrective action where needed orescalation to responsible management.
  • Actively identifying, reporting, and correction of health and safety hazardsand infection hazards immediately when recognised

  • *Competency in Cytology or vaccination administration is a must have however both is desirable**
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
  • Has evidence of working at the relevant level of practice as described in the Primary Care and General Practice Nursing Career and Core Capabilities Framework
  • Has attended and completed the 2 day fundamentals of vaccine administration course.
  • Experience of Practice Nurse skills including wound care, ECG, venepuncture, immunisations, new patient medicals, and womans health (cervical cytology, contraception etc.)
  • Request pathology tests and process the results, advising patients accordingly.
  • Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice
  • Ability to promote best practice regarding nursing matters.
  • Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GPs.
  • Good clinical system IT knowledge and an ability to record accurate clinical notes.
  • Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information effectively with people by telephone, email, and face to face.
  • Understanding of safeguarding adults and children
