Job summary

Health Recruit Network urgently seeks a Registered Manager to lead a children's home in Wigan, driving high quality care and OFSTED readiness. This senior role requires strong leadership, safeguarding expertise and a commitment to trauma-informed practice.

The role offers a competitive salary and significant opportunity to contribute to opening a second solo-placement home with ongoing support from Directors and RI.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in children's residential care.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the children's home.
• Ensure safe and effective delivery of the 2:1 staffing model.
• Lead, support and develop the staff team.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, care and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee care planning, risk management and quality assurance.
• Ensure appropriate staff induction, supervision, appraisal and training.
• Build effective relationships with children, families, local authorities and other professionals.
• Manage staffing, rotas, resources and budgets effectively.
• Work with the Responsible Individual to progress the second home's Ofsted registration, recruitment and opening.

Registered Manager - Children's

Location: Wigan

Salary: Up to £65,000 per year

Job Type: Full-time

The Opportunity

We are working alongside a well-established children's residential care provider seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead an established solo-placement children's home in Wigan. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to play a key role in the registration and opening of a second solo-placement home. With the property ready to progress through the Ofsted registration process, this is an exciting opportunity to help establish and develop a growing therapeutic service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the children's home.
• Ensure safe and effective delivery of the 2:1 staffing model.
• Lead, support and develop the staff team.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, care and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee care planning, risk management and quality assurance.
• Ensure appropriate staff induction, supervision, appraisal and training.
• Build effective relationships with children, families, local authorities and other professionals.
• Manage staffing, rotas, resources and budgets effectively.
• Work with the Responsible Individual to progress the second home's Ofsted registration, recruitment and opening.

About You

• Substantial experience in children's residential care.
• Previous management or significant leadership experience within a children's home.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
• Experience of management oversight and quality assurance.
• Understanding of trauma-informed and child-centred practice.
• Confidence leading staff through challenges and change.
• Strong organisational, leadership and accountability skills.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or recognised equivalent, or willingness to achieve the required qualification within the regulatory timeframe.
• At least two years' relevant experience in the residential care of children within the last five years.
• At least one year's experience supervising and managing staff.
• Ability to demonstrate the fitness, skills and experience required to register with Ofsted as a children's home manager.
