Job description

Are you an experienced Children’s Home Manager, eager to apply your knowledge and skills in a unique setting? The Deaf Academy has an exciting opportunity as Registered Manager for our beautiful four bedroom home in Exmouth which specialises in supporting Deaf young people. We are looking for a resilient, caring and committed Manager to support a staff team to work with Deaf young males who have experienced developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and displayed sexual behaviours. You will be a proven leader of a team of Residential Support Workers and Team Leaders in providing warm and nurturing care for Deaf children with additional and complex needs. Join our campus comprising of School, College, Residential Care, Adult Residential Care and a Children’s Home.

As a middle leader, you’ll be part of a network of professionals to work alongside and draw support from, ranging across corporate, education, welfare and therapy teams. You’ll also be part of a supportive and fun Care Leadership Team across our other areas of provision. As a charity, you’ll note that we have a distinctive ethos

You will have a keen eye for detail as well as excellent skills in quality assurance and improvement. A very good understanding of the Children’s Home Quality Standards and Regulations is essential to the role, as well as exceptional reporting and presentation skills. We are looking for a passionate individual who can take the home to the next level in providing outstanding care and developing an outstanding team.

About the Home

The children and young people we support are Deaf but also come with additional complex needs. Although you may not have worked with Deaf young people before you will be committed to learning British Sign Language and have extensive knowledge of the needs of children in care.

The role will be challenging and fast paced but very rewarding and with a positive, solution focused approach as well as creativity and a willingness to be hands on you will transform the lives of the children and young people within the home.
