Job description
Overview

Our client, a 3 bed Children's Home for children under 18 with EBD, is looking for a Registered Manager who will have the overall responsibility for the home’s day-to-day management and ensure high-quality care, safety, and well-being of the residents. You will lead and manage a team of staff, oversee budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote the children’s physical, psychological, emotional, and social development.

Salary of £50,000 – £60,000, dependent on experience
Office hours 9 – 5pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective leadership and management of the residential home, including registration, recruiting, inducting, and training staff.
  • Ensure full capacity of the home, safeguarding the children, ensuring their well-being, and promoting their physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural care.
  • Ensure the home meets all relevant regulations, including the Children’s Homes Regulations, and other statutory requirements. This includes preparing for and responding to inspections by bodies like Ofsted.
  • Develop and implement tailored care and risk management plans for each young person.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and day-to-day operations, including budget preparation for Directors’ approval.
  • Ensure the home is kept at full capacity and marketed correctly.
  • Provide information, guidance, and ongoing supervision to enable staff to effectively and safely carry out their roles.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement and maintain a culture of excellence within the home.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Strong understanding of child protection procedures and the ability to manage safeguarding concerns effectively, as well as in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, particularly the Children’s Homes Regulations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing care plans and risk assessments.
  • Experience in a Children’s Residential setting.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar setting.
  • Knowledge of and ability to address the needs of children with EBD, including managing challenging behaviours and promoting positive behaviour management strategies.
