Job summary

Bupa Dermatology is seeking a Registered General Nurse to join the dermatology clinic team in Cheadle. You will deliver high-standard nursing care across a range of dermatology procedures and follow-up clinics.

The role involves supporting patient pathways, supervising junior staff, and assisting dermatologists with specialised procedures. 40 hours across Monday–Saturday, permanent full-time contract, salary £41,600, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree required and NMC registration mandatory.
• Significant post-registration nursing experience.
• Knowledge of patient database systems.
• Phlebotomy and administration of drugs as prescribed by medical staff.
• Understanding of clinical and pricing documentation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Passion for patient care and delivering an effective service.
• Demonstrates a professional, confident and calm approach.
• Self-motivated and able to motivate others.
• Works to well established routines/procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support patient pathways in Dermatology and participate fully in treatment and monitoring of patients.
• Supervise and demonstrate procedures for junior staff qualified and unqualified.
• Assist Dermatologists and Surgeons with a range of specialised procedures such as general dermatology and skin care surgery.
• Plan and organise own workload to meet clinic and patient needs.
• Ensure compliance with clinic policies and procedures.
• Assist in outpatient clinics and check referral letters, results and x-rays for sessions.
• Support community dermatology clinic with education and resources for patients and staff.
• Perform full skin assessments including dermoscopy where necessary.
• Provide all aspects of nursing care including wound care and sutures/clips removal.
• Assist and chaperone patients during examinations/procedures.
• Assist with fine needle aspirations, biopsies and specimen handling.
• Contribute to patient follow-up clinics including phototherapy, cryotherapy, acne clinics, PRP and patch testing.
• Support audits and triage of results and referrals.

As a Staff Nurse, you will work within a dermatology team to deliver care to patients within a Clinic environment. You will participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to provide support to patients with Dermatological conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support patient pathways in Dermatology and participate fully in the treatment and monitoring of patients
• Supervise and demonstrate procedures for junior staff qualified and unqualified
• Assisting Dermatologists and Surgeons with a range of specialised procedures such as general dermatology and skin care surgery
• Plan and organise own workload in order to meet Clinic and patient needs
• Ensure compliance with Clinic Policies and Procedures
• Assisting in outpatient clinics
• Check referral letter, results and x-rays are available for clinical sessions
• Support the community dermatology clinic, providing education and resources to patients, their families and staff
• Perform a full skin assessment on each patient including dermoscopy where necessary
• Perform all aspects of relevant nursing care for patients including specialist dressing/bandaging techniques and the removal of sutures/clips
• Assist and chaperone patients whilst clinical examinations/procedures are being undertaken
• Assist medical staff with fine needle aspirations, core biopsies and take responsibility for the collection/labelling of specimens
• Provide high standards of care in various Nurse-led follow-up clinics including phototherapy, cryotherapy, acne clinics, PRP and related clinics, patch testing and assisting in minor surgery
• Support where and when necessary with audits, triage of results and triage of referrals
