Job summary

SkyCare is seeking a Registered Nurse for a purpose-built 82-bed retirement home in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The role offers day or night 12-hour shifts (8am-8pm or 8pm-8am) with a pay rate of £20 per hour.

You will join a supportive team focused on compassionate, high‑quality care for older residents. The role includes induction training, ongoing development, and potential career progression within a friendly environment.

  • Valid UK NMC PIN (no restrictions).
  • Ability to work on shifts/rotas.

Responsibilities

About you
  • Registered General Nurse with experience in a care home setting caring for older people.
  • Valid UK NMC PIN (no restrictions).
  • Ability to work on shift/rota patterns.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high‑stress situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Kind and caring approach with a passion for delivering the highest possible standard of care and support for the residents.
  • Experience in motivating the team.
  • Clear DBS and two satisfactory references.
Information about the Role
  • Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records.
  • Administer nursing care to ill, injured, and long‑term service users.
  • Behave in a professional and discreet manner at all times in line with the NMC Code.
  • Be competent and confident in managing people with long‑term health conditions.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate interventions for service users with complex needs.
  • Proactively identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for service users as appropriate.
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist service users in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Recognise and work within your own competence level.
  • Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of user interaction and consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Support, manage and guide support workers on a daily basis.
  • Engage in continual personal development.
  • Dispense and administer medication to residents as prescribed, accurately maintaining records.
  • Carry out stock control and ordering of prescribed medication and medical products.
  • Understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements such as Health and Safety, COSHH, and the Care Standards Act.
