A leading healthcare provider in Bedford is seeking a Registered Endoscopy Nurse to join the Endoscopy Team. You will work across all areas of endoscopy, including patient pre-assessment and recovery, while using specialized equipment. Qualifications

  • Registered with the NMC is mandatory.
  • Experience of Clinical Governance and Audit is essential.
  • Understanding the role of the Endoscopy Nurse.
  • Experience in partnership with consultants to deliver clinical care.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of endoscopy rooms and equipment needed for clinics.
  • Supervising junior staff as appropriate.
  • Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients.
  • Reporting the condition of patients to medical staff.

Job description

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Registered Endoscopy Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care as part of the Endoscopy Team.

The role involves working in all areas of Endoscopy, including pre-assessment, admission, and recovery of patients, using specialized equipment, and providing technical support during endoscopy procedures.

Main Duties

The primary aim of the Endoscopy Unit is to provide a high-quality, comprehensive endoscopy facility for patients. The successful candidate will participate in the traceability and maintenance of endoscopes and undertake pre-assessment for patients prior to their admission.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of endoscopy rooms and equipment needed for clinics
  • Supervising junior staff as appropriate
  • Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for individual and groups of patients
  • Reporting the condition of patients to medical staff and liaising with medical staff
Qualifications
  • Registered with the NMC
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • MSPP or Equivalent
  • Gastrointestinal nurses course
  • Diploma/Degree in Health-related subject
Experience
  • Understanding the role of the Endoscopy Nurse
  • Experience of Clinical Governance and Audit
  • Experience of working in partnership with consultants to deliver clinical care
  • Awareness of current nursing issues
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
