Job description

Through our exclusive partnership with SWECO Building Control, we are pleased to showcase an opportunity to join their experienced London team - an opportunity to deal with some of the most prestigious commercial projects within the UK, whilst working within a team containing a wealth of BC knowledge. For their London team, they are open to surveyors at various levels, the minimum requirement being class 2D, but also senior/principal surveyors at class 2F or class 3!

Key Responsibilities:

For a Building Control Surveyor, responsibilities will include:

  • Achieving specific objectives defined by others.
  • Working with the wider team to develop objectives using their own experience and interacting with others to resolve issues.
  • Completing certain aspects in their arena of responsibility in the bids that are submitted.
  • Understanding the risk profile within a contract and generating new business opportunities from that understanding as required.
  • Knowing what part they will play in the overall game plan generally in a supportive capacity.
  • Helping develop themselves to great technical skill.
  • Conducting thorough inspections of commercial buildings to ensure compliance with building regulations and standards.
  • Assessing plans, specifications, and designs to confirm they meet legal requirements.

For Senior / Principal Building Control Surveyors:

  • Being able to work and perhaps manage a large-scale technical project that has complex strands and being knowledgeable about all aspects of the project.
  • Takes responsibility for contractual liability in the bids submitted in their remit.
  • Understand the risk profile within a contract and may generate new business opportunities from that understanding.
  • Taking the game plan and approaching known contacts in the plan and engaging with them to generate sales and further relationships, knowing what part they play in the overall game plan.
  • Helping develop the technical team members, enhancing their technical skills by sharing own experiences and making sure all Senior Surveyors & Surveyors are developing their own expertise levels.
  • Ensuring all prospects, proposals, and tenders are submitted in accordance with the Sweco Process.

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience in Building Control with a strong focus on commercial schemes.
  • 2D upwards registration as a Building Inspector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of building regulations and construction standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed records and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualification in building control, construction, or a related field.
