Job summary

MC Plan, part of CHPK within the Celnor Group, is hiring a Registered Building Inspector in Southampton. You will undertake building control functions in line with current legislation, support delivery with colleagues, and contribute to continuous improvement in a fast-paced, technical environment.

You will interpret Building Regulations, assess applications, provide technical support, and share specialist knowledge with peers and trainees, ensuring high standards of delivery and client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Registered Building Inspector.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and related acts (Building Act 1984, Building Regulations 2010, Building Safety Act 2022) is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret Building Regulations for instructed works.
• Collaborative team player with cross-functional support.
• Detail-oriented with accountability.

Responsibilities

• Understand and interpret Building Regulations and contract lifecycles for instructed works.
• Work as part of a team, supporting peers, Assistant and Trainee Surveyors.
• Provide professional advice in a customer-focused environment.
• Cross-sell other services to ensure clients have full support from the organisation.
• Pursue continuing professional development and train others as needed.
• Examine plans, specifications, and supporting documentation submitted under Building Regulations.
• Assess applications for building regulation approval and provide technical support to applicants and stakeholders.
• Maintain effective relationships with Building Safety Regulator, Fire & Rescue Services, and other regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with internal teams and contribute to continuous improvement.
