Job summary

Irwin & Colton in Peterborough is seeking a Regional SHEQ Lead to manage the SHEQ team and drive safety performance across multiple projects. You will promote a strong SHEQ culture and embed continuous improvement in the region.

The role requires in‑depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, experience with ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001, and strong data analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities. A NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards) is preferred.

We are working with a leading civil engineering and utilities company in the water sector seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional SHEQ Lead to manage the SHEQ team and drive excellence in safety standards across multiple projects. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring compliance, promoting safety best practices, and embedding continuous improvement within the region.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and support the regional SHEQ team to implement policies, procedures, and management systems.
• Organise and facilitate SHEQ audits, assurance checks, and contractor assessments.
• Ensure compliance with UK legislation and ISO/OHSAS standards, maintaining externally certified management systems.
• Analyse performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to deliver sustainable, safe solutions.

The ideal candidate will have:

• In-depth knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and HSE guidance.
• Proven experience with SHEQ management systems such as ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret large volumes of information.
• NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent certificate (or working towards)
• Effective communication and leadership skills, capable of engaging at all levels.
