Job description

We are currently recruiting multiple Regional Security Advisors to join our Protective Security team in London and the Thames Valley/Home Counties. As part of the Regional Protective Security Team, you will collaborate closely with site teams and stakeholders to ensure the physical security of our critical assets within designated areas.

You will serve as a link between regulatory guidance and the business, providing security advice and promoting adherence to policies and procedures across Thames Water. Your role is vital in maintaining the security of our people, processes, premises, and assets.

What you’ll be doing as a Regional Security Advisor
  • Conduct security risk assessments across our estate.
  • Perform security investigations and review compliance assessments, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Provide security advice to Thames Water colleagues as a subject matter expert.
  • Participate in testing and exercising security arrangements.
  • Support incident response and risk register reviews; assist in auditing operational sites and systems.
  • Monitor security KPIs and SLAs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote security standards and policies, fostering a security-conscious culture.

Multiple locations are available for this role:

  • Thames Valley/Home Counties: Swindon, Newbury, Reading, Guildford.
  • London: North (Coppermills), East (Crossness), West (Ashford Common).

This is a 36-hour per week role, Monday to Friday, with travel across the Thames Water region.

What you should bring to the role
  • Experience in report writing and good communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Experience in risk management, protective security, or related disciplines, with willingness to develop into a security role.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and committed.
  • Desirable: Security Institute (SyI) BTEC Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Security Management.
  • Desirable: NPSA Foundation Course.
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as utilities, government, or infrastructure; water industry experience is a plus.
