Job summary

Durham University is seeking a Schools Outreach and Widening Participation Assistant Manager (Uni Connect) to lead regional outreach projects across the North East. The role involves managing sessions, coordinating tutors and ambassadors, and working with senior school leaders to raise attainment and progression into higher education.

The post is fixed-term for 11 months with the possibility of extension, based at Durham with travel across the region.

Qualifications

Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level 4 including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent.
Degree or equivalent qualification and direct experience of the UK school and HE system.
Experience of working with young people and enthusing them about higher education.
Experience of working on complex logistical activities and events with young people, preferably in a higher education setting.
Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

Contribute to equality, diversity and inclusion and the University’s values.
Plan, manage and organise operational activities relating to NEUCP, including coordinating and delivering workshops, activities and presentations to potential applicants.
Manage an agreed budget and expenditure including buying, keeping accurate records and completing financial reports as required.
Supervise and coordinate support for a Higher Education Ambassador and provide HR related initial responses.
Lead recruitment and supervision of undergraduate tutors to deliver tutoring programmes and monitor performance.
