Job description

A European manufacturer that leads its market in protecting people and workplaces from hazardous materials is looking for a Regional Sales Manager to grow its Midlands territory.

  • Field-based, home-working, permanent
  • Ideally living between Stoke, Nottingham, Northampton and Worcester, with a patch from the Welsh border to Lincolnshire
  • Up to £50,000 basic, quarterly or annual bonus, company car with a choice of model, 28 days' holiday plus bank holidays, pension, laptop and phone
What you're selling

The customer isn't buying a cabinet. They're buying a safe, compliant way to store hazardous materials, from lithium-ion batteries to flammable liquids, chemicals and gas cylinders, in laboratories, universities, pharmaceutical sites, factories, defence and construction. That means the site survey, the right distributor, the installation and the service that follows. The business sees its job as raising awareness, not just meeting minimum legal requirements, so much of the selling is education.

Why this role
  • The Midlands sits between the north and south sales patches and has been covered alongside other responsibilities. It needs someone to own it full time
  • Resellers on the patch generate enquiries once the relationship is there, and you are their first point of contact
  • Lithium-ion batteries are driving the market. Insurer QBE reported battery fires up 93% between 2022 and 2024, and most workplaces haven't acted yet
  • A UK office and showroom, internal sales support and service engineers are already in place. One site survey often becomes several products and a service contract
  • You report to a Sales Director with a long record selling this product in the UK. Training is two weeks at the manufacturing site, then time in the field with him
What you'll do
  • Build relationships with the distributors and dealers on the patch, so they bring you into their enquiries, and manage the key accounts at regional level
  • Educate end users on the regulations and the risk, and the M&E consultants and estates teams who specify for them
  • Survey the site, recommend the right solution, bring in the distributor and see the job through to installation
  • Present on site and at events, including online
  • Report weekly on pipeline, larger opportunities and quotes
Who this would suit
  • A way of selling that starts with education: helping customers understand the regulations and the risk, then recommending the right solution
  • A record of winning new B2B business face to face, and of building relationships with partners who bring you in
  • Comfort with a sale that has several parts, and ownership of the whole job so the order goes through and the customer is looked after
  • Confidence presenting to groups, or a real wish to learn

That experience could come from health and safety solutions, workplace or facilities products, capital equipment or long-term service contracts. What matters is that you are a professional B2B salesperson who takes the job seriously and is proud to do it.
