Job description

The post holder will provide administrative and clerical support to the Regional Ophthalmology service within the Surgical Division.

The post holder is a key member of the team, working closely with the wider South East Wales Regional Ophthalmology service on the business management of the service.

To manage inpatient waiting lists and supervise the day-to-day running of the inpatient scheduling service.

To support the management team and clinicians in delivering outstanding service and organizational performance. This includes developing practical service plans that improve patient experience, care, and reduce waiting times.

The main focus will be to support access targets within the Regional Ophthalmology service and ensure inpatient and outpatient capacity is well utilized.

The role involves booking outpatient appointments and day case treatments, handling queries from GPs and patients, making appointments using regional systems, and managing appointment processes.

Main duties include answering calls, making calls, handling enquiries, booking appointments according to the Partial Booking Policy, and monitoring schedules.

We seek an organized, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with strong team leadership skills. The post holder will contribute to the transformation plans for Ophthalmology in South East Wales.

Welsh language skills are desirable; applications from Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome.
