SUMMARY OF ROLE

Mountjoy Ltd is contracted to various clients across the Southeast, maintaining and repairing over 5,000 buildings, including universities, social housing, council buildings, offices, and leisure facilities. We seek a conscientious, enthusiastic individual with a can-do attitude, who remains calm under pressure. Customer service, proactive problem-solving, and teamwork are essential. All operatives must pass an Enhanced DBS check.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Perform a variety of painting, decorating, and plastering works in occupied buildings, including preparation, emulsion, gloss painting, wallpaper hanging, textured finishes, dry lining, and general plastering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure high-quality workmanship, safety, and environmental considerations in waste disposal.
  • Always carry the necessary tools for the trade.
  • Protect property before work and leave it clean afterward.
  • Maintain high standards of work quality.
  • Remain polite and professional; seek support when needed.
  • Support other trades in delivering safe, professional maintenance and repairs.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and update clients and managers.
  • Work efficiently, minimizing non-productive time.
  • Follow health and safety protocols, using risk assessments, method statements, and PPE.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle in good condition.
  • Use PDA to keep accurate work records, including photos.
  • Complete repairs in one visit where possible, updating notes for follow-up work.
  • Seek assistance from the Repairs Manager when necessary.
  • Work additional hours as required.
  • Assist other contracts as directed.
  • Keep company vehicle clean and report defects.
  • Be an inclusive team member and embody Mountjoy's ethos of integrity.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Proven competence as a tradesperson with the necessary tools.
  • Knowledge of current trade legislation and materials, especially on historic/listed buildings.
  • Effective communication skills via phone or PDA.
  • Professional demeanor with residents and building representatives.
  • Ability to complete work thoroughly and in one visit.
  • Organized, proactive, and a team player.
  • Health and safety awareness, problem-solving skills, and self-motivation.
  • At least 2 years experience in property maintenance.
  • Ability to work at height.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Time-served qualification in Painting, Decorating & Plastering.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • PASMA qualification or willingness to attain it (desired).
