Job description

The Opportunity

Avantor is looking for a strategic and customer-oriented Regional Operations Manager, to joining our Laboratory & Production Services (LPS) team, in the UK. This is a field-based role with national travel, where you'll play a pivotal part in supporting scientific innovation, by leading operations across multiple customer sites and driving service excellence.

This full-time, permanent position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of laboratory services across the UK and beyond. This is a field-based location, with regular travels across the UK (2-3 days per week).

The Team

You'll be leading a team of three On-Site Services Managers, each responsible for operations at key customer sites in Elstree, Kingston upon Hill, Runcorn. Each site is supported by a small, dedicated operational team, delivering laboratory-based and logistics services tailored to customer needs. The team is knows for its collaborative, friendly and supportive culture, and they're looking for a leader who thrives on teamwork, communication and shared success.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience managing teams in an operational or scientific environment, remote management of site managers is preferred
  • Demonstrated success indeveloping and improving existing customer sitesandimplementing new projects
  • Experience inwinning new business, supporting tenders, and navigating anever-changing environmentwith shifting priorities
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • A proactive, commercially minded leader with a passion for continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of GxP/GLP/GMP is desirable
  • Experience in laboratory services, FM suppliers, or scientific customer management is a plus

How You'll Thrive And Create An Impact

  • Lead and developa team of On-Site Services Managers across multiple UK customer sites, providing strategic governance, line management, and operational oversight in alignment with corporate goals
  • Drive service excellenceby implementing process improvements, promoting Avantor Business Systems, and ensuring completion of quality audits, improvement plans, and health & safety compliance
  • Support commercial growthby identifying new business opportunities within existing accounts, contributing to tender submissions, and promoting Avantor's on-site service capabilities to prospective customers
  • Oversee project delivery, including the implementation of Inventory Management software at new sites, and manage administrative and project-based tasks to support departmental goals
  • Collaborate cross-functionallywith internal teams (Customer Services, Distribution, Commercial, Digital Solutions, etc.) to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Travel regularly(2-3 days per week) to engage with on-site teams, support customer relationships, and ensure consistent service standards across all locations
