Job summary

Manchester Museum hosts a role within Museum Development North to advise regional museums across the North of England, fostering collaboration, networks and partnerships. You will be the first point of contact and help broker relationships while promoting the agenda of inclusive and transformational museum work.

The role emphasises advisory support to up to 100 museums with occasional travel, helping to deliver grant-funded objectives and area-wide programmes in a dynamic cultural sector.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of experience based competency in a museum and gallery setting.
  • Detailed practical knowledge of a museum specialist function and senior level experience.
  • Ability to meet area (North of England) and national travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver objectives against a £750,000 per annum grant from Arts Council England.
  • Act as Advisor for up to 100 museums in specified localities and provide advisory support online and in-person.
  • Co-lead or project manage area wide projects and programmes with average budgets of £5,000 per project per annum.
  • Provide specialist insight and support to area wide programmes, including training and grant schemes, and to Museum Development England network activity.
