Summary

m2r Education is working with a training and development company that provides a range of public services, including employment support, skills training, independent living, and prison education. They are recognized as one of the Top 25 Education and Training providers to work for.

This role covers HMP Bedford, HMP Littlehey, HMP Bure, HMP Norwich, and HMP Wayland. The candidate's base will be the site closest to their home address. It is a fixed-term contract for one year. Experience in reading, including delivering phonics intervention and understanding of reading in education, is required.

The Regional Reading Team Leader is a supervisory role providing support to Reading Specialists, overseeing systems for reading screening, support levels, and ensuring effective tracking and monitoring of reading interventions to promote progress.

The role involves collaborating with prison staff, the Education Department, library, and other stakeholders to support prisoners who struggle with reading and to drive the prison-wide reading strategy.

Travel across the following locations is required:

  • HMP Bedford
  • HMP Littlehey
  • HMP Bure
  • HMP Norwich
  • HMP Wayland

Your main base will be the location closest to your home.

Requirements:

  • Relevant and recent experience in a similar role within a learning environment, with good understanding of reading development strategies and interventions, including phonics.
  • Willingness to work towards or hold a qualification in providing phonics and/or literacy interventions to adults.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Knowledge of policies related to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, and Data Protection.
  • Valid DBS check.
