Job summary

West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is seeking a strategic leader to shape and deliver higher-level skills across the region. You will coordinate colleges, universities, training providers and employers to align curriculum with growth sectors and progression into higher-level roles.

You will translate national policy into practical programmes, drive commissioning, and lead a team to deliver measurable outcomes that support inclusive growth and local prosperity.

Qualifications

• Significant senior-level experience in skills settings.
• Track record of convening stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
• Experience with publicly funded skills investment programmes.
• Ability to translate corporate aims into practical actions.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead WMCA's strategy and delivery for higher-level skills (Level 3+).
• Drive system-wide alignment among colleges, universities, providers and employers.
• Commission and curate new curriculum offers to address regional gaps.
• Champion the role of higher-level skills to deliver WMCA priorities.
• Track national drivers of the higher-level skills agenda and respond.
