Job description

HGV Class 1 Driver

We are looking for a Regional Class 1 HGV Driver based from any of our Scotland depots in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Dundee. The role involves providing cover for all depots and drivers across Scotland.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the UK market leader in powered access. The role requires travel and coverage across the region. Travel and accommodation arrangements will be paid for by the company when necessary.

As an HGV Class 1 driver, we seek individuals who hold the correct licences, possess a CPC card, enjoy interacting with people daily, have excellent customer service skills, and understand the importance of health and safety within an organisation.

In return, you'll receive full training, a competitive salary of £32,500 plus a regional allowance of £4,000, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, life assurance, Westfield Health Insurance, auto-enrolment pension, and access to retail discounts.

Responsibilities include:

1. Load and unload machines according to the Company code of practice using appropriate equipment.
2. Maintain the security of loads during loading, transportation, and delivery.
3. Handover machines to customers and familiarise them with machine operation.
4. Carry out daily checks on the vehicle and ancillary equipment.
5. Comply with legislation regarding vehicle safety, tachographs operation, and working time.
6. Relay customer queries to depot staff as required.
7. Act as an ambassador for the company, providing high standards of customer care and politeness at all times.
8. Accurately complete all relevant paperwork.

About you:

1. You must hold an HGV Class 1 licence and a full CPC card.
2. Be flexible with staying away from home, on average three nights per week (accommodation provided).
3. Experience in driving a low loader vehicle delivering plant or recovering vehicles is preferred, but full training can be provided.
4. Understand the importance of customer service, as you will be demonstrating equipment to customers.
5. Have a demonstrable understanding of HGV vehicle safety and maintenance.
