Morris Homes Ltd is recruiting a Regional Health & Safety Manager to oversee H&S across its Northern operations for new build residential housing in the north-west region of England. Based from Wilmslow, the role reports to the Group Health & Safety Director and requires strong communication skills and experience in construction H&S.

The candidate will ensure policy implementation, conduct audits, and manage safety documentation, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must have NEBOSH certificate and knowledge of current H&S regs (CDM)
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Effective communicator with good IT skills

Responsibilities

• Ensure company H&S policies and standards are implemented and maintained.
• Assist in reviewing health and safety policies, procedures, standards and practices.
• Assist in compiling Pre-Construction Information, Construction Phase Plans and H&S files.
• Undertake site audits and inspections; identify improvements and report findings to senior staff.
• Attend safety meetings, including Safety Pre-Start Meetings with external Principal Contractors.
• Investigate accidents attracting RIDDOR or other serious incidents.
• Assist in producing Construction Environmental Management Plans to control environmental risks.
• Collaborate with internal departments, site management and subcontractors to implement H&S controls across operations.

Morris Homes is seeking to recruit a Regional Health & Safety Manager to work within its Northern operations on new build residential housing developments located across the north-west region of England.

The integration of health and safety within the day-to-day activities of the business is a crucial aspect in protecting people and ensuring the that the Company fulfils its statutory obligations. It's therefore important that in addition to having health & safety experience within the construction sector, that the successful candidate is an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills.

The Role:

Based from the Groups Head Office in Wilmslow and reporting to the Group Health & Safety Director, duties will include:

• Ensuring that Company policies and standards are implemented and maintained.
• Assisting in the review of existing health and safety policies, procedures, standards and practices.
• Assisting in the compilation of Pre-Construction Information, Construction Phase Plans and H&S files.
• Undertaking site audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement, and reporting on the findings to senior staff.
• Attending safety meetings, including Safety Pre-Start Meetings where external Principal Contractors are engaged.
• For accidents which attract RIDDOR or other potentially serious incidents, conduct detailed accident investigations.
• Assisting internal Planning & Design Departments with the production of Construction Environmental Management Plans for the purpose of demonstrating that construction nuisance and environmental risks are suitably controlled.
• Work collaboratively with internal departments, site management teams and subcontractors to ensure the effective implementation of health and safety controls across our operations.

The Person:

• Minimum 5 years previous experience within a UK construction H&S role.
• NEBOSH Certificate (General or Construction) or equivalent professional qualification.
• Environmental qualification desirable.
• Detailed and working knowledge of current Health & Safety Regulations, including CDM.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate confidently and professionally and to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Excellent in written and verbal communication with good IT skills.
