Department overview
Wholesale Data Services and Operations Technology supports two major functions within Nomura:

  1. It provides foundational architectural solutions for market and reference data that powers Nomura's business. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining systems that manage acquisition and distribution of data for the entire organization including front office, middle office, back office, risk, finance and various AI based analytics systems.
  2. It is responsible for supporting trade settlement and transaction processing technology platform, providing day-to-day support for the middle office, operations and regulatory users, and managing vendor and in-house applications.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

Essential

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy for trade processing and / or settlements systems within the wholesale banking division.
    • Align technology initiatives with overall business objectives and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for technological advancement and process improvement.
  2. Project / Program Management:
    • Experience of managing / leading large size projects / Programs spanning across multiple teams / applications.
    • Well versed with SDLC Life cycle and Jira related processes.
  3. Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of professionals specializing in trade processing and / or settlements.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the team.
    • Manage resource allocation, budgeting, and capacity planning for the department.
  4. Operational Excellence:
    • Implement best practices in Functional architecture and operational processes.
    • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual interventions and improve straight-through processing rates.
  5. Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Implement robust controls and monitoring systems to mitigate operational risks in trade processing and / or settlements.
    • Stay abreast of evolving regulatory landscape and ensure systems are adaptable to changing requirements.
  6. Stakeholder Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, regulators, technology vendors, and industry partners.
    • Represent the technology function in executive-level meetings and industry forums.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  7. Innovation and Digital Transformation:
    • Lead digital transformation initiatives within the trade processing and settlements domain.
    • Explore and implement innovative solutions to enhance client experience and operational efficiency.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team and across the organization.

Desirable
1. Knowledge / Experience of any Programming language.
2. Knowledge of complex Products like OTC Derivatives, Structured Products etc.
