Job summary

Downing Care is seeking a Regional Estates Supervisor to oversee a portfolio of care homes in the South, based at Farnborough with travel to sites. You’ll manage maintenance operatives, contractor work, and compliance while supporting budget planning and asset care across multiple locations.

Role requires hands-on maintenance skills, leadership, and a strong focus on safety and regulatory standards within occupied buildings. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a maintenance/estates role or similar.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating contractors.
• Solid knowledge of building maintenance systems and reactive maintenance.
• Good understanding of health and safety in occupied buildings.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
• Competent IT skills and experience with maintenance reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to maintenance operatives.
• Allocate workloads across multiple sites to ensure efficient service.
• Respond to maintenance requests, emergencies and breakdowns promptly.
• Carry out plumbing, joinery, decorating, basic electrical, and fabric works.

• Ensure plant and building systems are serviced per statutory and manufacturer guidance.
• Oversee upkeep of buildings, grounds, and external environments.
• Identify improvement opportunities and investment needs.
• Assist with inspections, testing, and certification for compliance.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Regional Estates Supervisor to join our Property and Estates Team, supporting a portfolio of care homes across the South region.

This is a multifaceted role combining hands-on maintenance, supervision of maintenance operatives, contractor management, compliance oversight, minor project delivery, and estate-related responsibilities. The successful candidate will ensure that all properties, facilities, equipment, and associated assets are maintained to a safe, compliant, and high standard, supporting an excellent environment for residents, staff, visitors, and stakeholders.

The role of Regional Estates Supervisor will involve travelling between sites, coordinating maintenance activities, supporting statutory compliance requirements, overseeing reactive and planned maintenance programmes, and contributing to the effective management of maintenance resources, vehicles, contractors, and budgets.

As the Regional Estates Supervisor, you will be accountable to the Estates Manager and Regional Manager. The role will be based at our Farnborough Office., As Regional Estates Supervisor, you will:

• Provide day-to-day supervision, support, guidance, and performance oversight of maintenance operatives.
• Allocate and prioritise workloads across multiple sites to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance requests, emergencies, and breakdowns across the portfolio.
• Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks including plumbing, joinery, painting, decorating, lock changes, basic electrical repairs, building fabric works, and general repairs.
• Diagnose faults and implement practical solutions with minimal disruption to care home operations.
• Support the delivery and monitoring of planned preventative maintenance schedules across all properties.
• Ensure plant, equipment, fixtures, fittings, and building systems are serviced and maintained in accordance with statutory requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
• Support the upkeep and presentation of all buildings, grounds, communal areas, and external environments.
• Identify and report property improvement opportunities and maintenance investment requirements.
• Support and monitor statutory compliance requirements across all care home locations.
• Assist with inspections, testing, servicing, and certification.
• Ensure maintenance activities meet company standards, CQC requirements, insurance obligations, and applicable legislation.
• Support the monitoring and coordination of maintenance vehicles and associated equipment.
• Assist with budget monitoring and cost control measures.
• Support the development of maintenance procedures, documentation, and reporting systems.

Essential -

• Proven experience in a maintenance, estates, facilities, or property services role.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating contractors.
• Sound knowledge of building maintenance systems and reactive maintenance practices.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements within occupied buildings.
• Basic understanding of fleet management and vehicle compliance.
• Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations.
• Competent IT skills and experience using maintenance reporting systems.
• Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is required, and willingness to travel extensively between sites.
