Job Description:

The Vacancy

Binnies is recruiting an environmental team leader for our Bradford on Avon and Bristol offices. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of projects, including infrastructure, landscape restoration, flood, coastal, maritime, ports, water utilities, transport, and renewable energy sectors.

One of our key projects is SESRO (South East Strategic Reservoir Option), a 150 million cubic metre reservoir near Abingdon, aimed at habitat creation, biodiversity enhancement, and recreation facilities.

We pride ourselves on environmental excellence, with a strong Community of Practice and commitment to innovative practices like digital EIA. Our professionals work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable solutions. We hold the IEMA EIA Quality Mark, reflecting our high standards in EIA.

About the Role

The role includes:

  • Managing all stages of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), including SEA, WFD, HRA, and planning consents.
  • Reviewing and approving environmental deliverables, ensuring technical quality.
  • Leading and overseeing the regional Environmental Team, managing resources, and collaborating with HR on team wellbeing and performance.
  • Supporting business development and tendering processes.
  • Mentoring team members and supporting recruitment efforts.

Qualifications/Requirements

Suitable candidates will have a full professional membership (IEMA, IES, CIWEM), an environmental degree, and demonstrate:

  • Chartered status with a relevant institute.
  • Deep understanding of EIA, sustainability, and consenting processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • People management and supervisory experience.
  • Commercial awareness and project management skills.
  • Client relationship experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Previous consultancy experience; construction stage experience is a plus but not essential.
