Job description

Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading energy company to recruit a Regional Environmental Compliance Lead to cover their western region of Energy from Waste Power Stations and Waste Transfer Stations, including Bristol, Cardiff, and Cheshire.

The fundamental Regional Environmental Compliance Lead role offers a salary of £55,000 + £6,500 per annum car allowance + up to 10% Bonus + private healthcare + other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the National Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for:

1. Ensuring compliance with environmental permits, licenses, and specific working plans, including administration and audits.
2. Driving environmental performance improvement through behavioral change.
3. Ensuring functional managers understand their responsibilities for managing environmental impacts.
4. Monitoring, reviewing, and recommending management system improvements driven by information using leading indicators.
5. Producing environmental reports for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Ensuring sites are prepared for internal and external audits related to ISO, environmental, and compliance standards.
7. Taking and recording fuel and by-product samples for analysis following designated procedures, such as EP, ROCs, MCERTS, and CEMS.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

• A Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Environmental Science.

Personal skills, experience, and knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in a highly regulated industry such as Power Generation (EfW, Biomass, CCGT), Refineries, or Water Treatment.
• Willingness to travel with overnight stays as required.
• Experience working with continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS).
• Knowledge of standards ISO9001, ISO45001, and ISO50001.
• Familiarity with hazardous characteristics of incinerator bottom ash (IBA).
• Experience in producing environmental reports for submission to the Environment Agency (EA).
