Job description

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading energy company to recruit a Regional Environmental Compliance Lead to cover their western region of Energy from Waste Power Stations and Waste Transfer Stations, including Bristol, Cardiff, and Cheshire.

The role offers a salary of £55,000 plus a £6,500 per annum car allowance, up to 10% bonus, private healthcare, and other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with environmental permits, licenses, and specific working plans, including administration and audits.
  • Driving environmental performance improvement through behavioral change.
  • Ensuring functional managers understand their responsibilities for managing environmental impacts.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and recommending improvements to management systems based on leading indicators.
  • Producing environmental reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing sites for internal and external audits related to ISO, environmental, and compliance standards.
  • Taking and recording fuel and by-product samples for analysis according to procedures, e.g., EP, ROCs, MCERTS, and CEMS.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Environmental Science.
Personal skills, experience, and knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry such as Power (EfW, Biomass, CCGT), Refineries, or Water Treatment.
  • Willingness to travel with overnight stays.
  • Experience with continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS).
  • Knowledge of standards ISO9001, ISO45001, and ISO50001.
  • Familiarity with hazardous characteristics of incinerator bottom ash (IBA).
  • Experience in environmental reporting and submissions to the Environment Agency.

  • Basic salary of £55,000.
  • Car allowance of £6,500 per annum.
